Nousiainen, 21, joins the Stars after an impressive first professional season with HC Merano (AlpsHL), where he recorded 22 points in 37 regular-season games.
He added a further 19 points in 17 playoff appearances, finishing tied for second in postseason goals with 10 as he helped Merano reach the Alps Hockey League Final for the first time in franchise history.
The Turku, Finland native developed through the TPS junior system, appearing at U16, U18 and U20 level before continuing his junior career in Czechia and Austria. He later moved to North America with the El Paso Rhinos (NAHL), recording 23 points and 108 penalty minutes in 52 games during the 2024/25 campaign.
Nousiainen made the jump to the professional ranks with Merano last season, where he played under former Stars defenceman Christian Borgatello and finished fifth on the team in goals.

After signing with the Stars, Nousiainen shared his excitement about making the move to Dundee:
“I’m really excited to join the team. I’ve only heard good things about the club and how electric the atmosphere is at the rink, so I’m really happy to be there next season.”
He also spoke about his conversations with Head Coach Scott Dutertre:
“We had a really good conversation. I like the way he thinks about the game — playing simple, fast and physical hockey so I think I fit the team really well.”
Finally, Nousiainen had a message for the Stars fans:
“Come to the rink and be electric. I can’t wait to see you all there.”
Head Coach Scott Dutertre believes Nousiainen’s playoff performance last season show exactly what he can bring to Dundee:
“When you watch him, his regular-season numbers don’t really jump off the page. But then you look at his playoff performances and he was absolutely lights out last season.
“Sometimes young players can get lost in the defensive zone, but I really liked how he worked at both ends of the rink. I’m excited to see him bring that two-way game to our team this season.”
Nousiainen is our 17th signing of the summer, joining Josh Nelson, Jonathan McBean, Ben Brown, Travis Ewanyk, Keaton Jameson, Craig Moore, Evan Brand, Tyson Laventure, Gary Haden, Matt DeBoer, Zack Hoffman, Brodi Stuart, Kris Inglis, Sebastian Bengtsson, Vladislav Pestov and Sean Strange on next season’s roster.
